Aoraki Mount Cook – Tasman Valley

As I am sitting in my camper tonight at a camp site in Oamaru, I have uploaded the pictures I took this morning.

I woke up almost in the clouds! The views from last night were gone. The mountains surrounding the camp ground covered in thick clouds. The sun did its best to clear them out, however, and I set off for a quick detour on my way east. Tasman Valley has Two shorter walks (I dare not yet call them hikes, although the second once towards the lookout over the glacier was stoney and steep) were part of my morning exercise. The views again were breathtaking. I lack word, English, German or Swedish, to describe the landscape and the fast changing scenery. Especially as the mountain tops, that were covered in clouds on my way up, were clearly in the sunshine about half an hour later.

Have a look a two of the many images I took this morning. Click to enlarge.
