On The Road – Queenstown to Greymouth

Today’s leg was a longer drive: I drove to the west coast and as far as Greymouth.

Again, the drive through the country was spectacular. Not only because of the winding roads, but the changing scenery was just spectacular. Up and over the mountains, sometimes inbetween – the highway is climbing up high, then lingering at the side of a riverbed just to cut inbetween high rising rocks. Towards the west coast, it went through woodland and forests, high grown ferns and moss covered trees lined the side of the road.  I have tried to capture some snapshots for you, but not all the places would allow me to stop the car. And some impression are just not showing on film/data…

The day was mainly sunny and bright with some rainy patches towards the end of the trip. As I am sitting in my camper this evening, I can hear the ocean. The campsite is next to the Tasman Sea – next stop Australia. Not where I am heading. I will continue up north and I have a few shorter legs now.
