Christchurch Impressions

Christchurch was a great choice for the first city to stay in New Zealand.

Although the sores of the 2011 earthquakes are still widely visible, life is going on. The city is busy and people just have adapted. Restaurants have moved to other places and the Re:Start Mall is housing shops and cafés in converted colourful shipping containers. Hagley Park with the Botanic Garden invites for a stroll or an afternoon picknick, the Avon river is meandering through the city centre and in New Regent Street the facades of the houses mirror each other with the tram going through the street on its round course of the city centre. The first stop of the route is indoors!

Here are a couple of my first impressions. The weather was quite mixed with heavy rain on my first day, clouds and drizzle, but also some sunny spells. Click on the image to enlarge the thumbnails.
