Hike to Stornabben and in Abisko National Park

Hiking without a dog is possible, but pointless.
Still, I went on a (shorter) hike today with some beautiful views. I caught a lift to Abisko this morning and set off on my hike. I left the national park for my first stop on the peak of Stornabben. From the 495m height you have a wonderful 360° view, especially onto the famous Lapporten (of which you’ll see many snapshots in this blog entry). The full hike is on Komoot here.

Coming down from Stornabben I came back into Abisko national park and headed for Nissonjokk, which is (I believe) the first site where you are allowed to set up camp (coming down from Abisko). As time was right, I took the opportunity to make myself some lunch.

After lunch, I took a path less travelled along the river and then joined the Kungsleden towards Abisko again. At the mediation spot I took the loop along the nature path taking me alway from the trail. But I went on it one last time right at the end where I took a little time to sit on the flat stones close to the water. Again, a wonderful hike with just so many phenomenal views. Sadly, without the dog.
Today, I took the train back to Björkliden and saved myself 9 km of walking back. My feet were thankful…
