Gripsholms Slott

Gripsholms slott

Today I just made the short drive from Stockholm down to Mariefred and the Gripsholm Castle.

The castle‘s history goes back to the 1370s and today is one of Sweden‘s eleven Royal Castles. For those, who read Tucholsky it is also title and setting for one of his novels.
For me, it was today‘s destination. Just a few kilometres from Stockholm and just fine for today. I went around Mariefred and the castle before going back to the camper for lunch. I‘ll be off for a short walk in a bit. So, just a few quick mobile phone photos in today‘s blog.
During the summer months (and in non-Covid-times), there are two ways to get here: One is by steam boat from Stadshuskajen in Stockhom (which as such is a wonderful trip to take!) and by steam train on narrow gauge tracks.
